Discover the social and economic mechanisms that hinder access to rights and think about solutions to strengthen social inclusion, during this IDEA conference on January 14, 2025.

Why is it so difficult to ask for help?

In a society that values performance and autonomy, vulnerability is often perceived as a weakness. This stereotype, amplified by numerous media discourses on welfare issues, generates shame and social stigma, making access to rights more complex for people in precarious situations.

The conference “Breaking Shame, Claiming Your Rights” invites you to understand these invisible obstacles. With the interventions of two experts, Florence Jusot and Emmanuel Jovelin, explore the social and economic dynamics that fuel the non-recourse to rights, and think about solutions to combat these obstacles.

Speakers:

Florence Jusot, professor of economics at Paris-Dauphine University and specialist in health inequalities.
Emmanuel Jovelin, professor and chair of social work and social intervention at the CNAM.
Come and participate in this moment of exchange and reflection, to deconstruct preconceived ideas and open up avenues of action.
