Privacy and Cookie Policy, effective November 16, 2023
0. Preliminary article: Definitions
Privacy Policy: document setting out PSL's commitments with regard to the processing of the personal data of Users browsing the PSL Website.
PSL: refers to the Université Paris sciences et lettres (PSL) as well as the Fondation Paris Sciences et Lettres (PSL), Data Controllers within the meaning of the RGPD.
Loi Informatique et Libertés: Act no. 78-17 of January 6, 1978, as amended, on data processing, data files and individual liberties.
RGPD: EU Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data
Site: designates PSL's institutional portal, whose url address is www.psl.eu, as well as the various Services and sub-sites accessible via this portal
Service(s): refers to the various online services accessible via the Site, including but not limited to admissions, calls for projects, donations, apprenticeship tax, etc.
User(s): any person browsing the Site, whether or not using the Services, for whom the present Privacy Policy is intended.
Cookie(s): a cookie is a small file stored by a server on a User's terminal and associated with a web domain. These files enable the exchange status information between the Site and the User's browser
1. General terms and conditions
This Privacy Policy applies to all Users who browse the Site, use the various Services and/or interact with PSL in the context of using the Site.
PSL endeavours and undertakes to protect the privacy of Users in accordance with legal requirements and in particular the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés) - and any law or directive that may supplement or replace it - as well as the RGPD. The purpose of the Privacy Policy is thus, in particular, to provide Users with the best possible information on how PSL protects the personal data it collects within the framework of the Site.
By providing personal data when using the Site and Services, Users acknowledge that they have read and understood the terms of this Privacy Policy and the General Terms of Use.
For each data processing operation, PSL endeavors to limit the collection of personal data to what is strictly necessary (data minimization) and to provide the persons concerned by the processing of their data with information on :
- the data controller and the purposes for which the data is collected;
- the legal basis for data processing;
- whether the collection of data is compulsory or optional in order to process your request, and a reminder of the categories of data processed;
- the source of the data (when data other than that provided via the online service is used to process your request);
- the categories of data subjects;
- the recipients of the data (in principle, only university departments, except where transmission to a third party is necessary);
- how long the data will be kept;
- security measures (general description);
- the possible existence of data transfers outside the European Union or automated decision-making;
- and how to exercise them with the CNIL.
2. Users' rights to their personal data
Pursuant to Chapter III of the RGPD relating to the rights of the data subject, the User may at any time request access to the data collected from PSL, the data controller. Under the same conditions, he or she may also assert a right to data portability, erasure, rectification and a right to object to processing.
The User may also withdraw the consent on which the processing was based at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing prior to withdrawal.
PSL has appointed a Data Protection Officer. To exercise his rights or for any other question relating to the protection of personal data, the User may send him a request by the following means:

PSL may ask the User to provide proof of identity before responding to his/her request.
The User may lodge a complaint with the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) if he/she considers that the processing to which he/she has been subjected has been carried out in breach of the European Data Protection Regulation.
3. Data collected by means of Cookies
Cookies may be used on the Site. They enable the storage in Users' browsers of anonymous information relating to their browsing preferences.
PSL uses the following cookies:
Mandatory cookies (Drupal session): Drupal session cookies are strictly necessary for the provision of the website. They enable the website to function and facilitate access to the various content presented on the site. The cookies collected are not used for any purpose other than the provision of the website, or to enable and facilitate responses to the various contact forms present on the site. These cookies do not contain any information about the user. They are automatically activated; blocking them via your browser settings is likely to have negative effects on the site's operation, or even cause it to malfunction. They are stored for 1 day.
Audience measurement cookies: Audience measurement cookies collect information on how visitors navigate the website. They enable us to collect information in compliance with CNIL directives on site usage (pages viewed, time spent, geographical origin, language of consultation). They are also used to improve the site, in particular by enhancing the content and information displayed, or by optimizing the site's technical performance and ergonomics. These cookies are strictly necessary for the functioning and day-to-day administration operations of a website.
Video cookies: The cookies used to view videos broadcast on the PSL University website come from the Youtube hosting platform. These cookies can be deactivated. In the event of deactivation, the user will not be able to view the videos broadcast.
SalesForce Account Management cookies: These cookies enable us to track users' activities on our site and their interactions with our content. They make it possible to track the User's browsing habits in order to better target the communications you agree to receive. They are stored for 12 months.
However, we draw your attention to the fact that by setting your browser to refuse cookies deposited by PSL, certain functions or pages of the Site may be difficult to access or even inaccessible.
The User's prior consent, via the cookie banner displayed on the Site, is required before reading or depositing any cookies that are not strictly necessary for the operation of the Site and/or the provision of Services.

4. Modification of the Privacy Policy
The Privacy Policy may be consulted on the Site at any time. PSL reserves the right to modify it at any time. The modified Privacy Policy will take effect on the date it is posted on the Site.
