MSCA conference speakers - Refet Ali Yalcin
Refet Ali Yalcin is a postdoctoral researcher at Universite de Poitiers, France under MSCA Individual Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Refet Yalcin's research is based on radiative heat transfer and photonics. Application fields include but are not limited to improving photosynthesis in greenhouses by altering solar spectrum, improving solar energy absorption of the solar collectors and reducing energy consumption of the buildings by design spectrally selective coatings.
Refet Yalcin had his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bogazici University, Turkey. He signed the petition "We will not be a party to this crime!" which condemns the massacre of the Turkish republic against Kurds. The prosecutor asked for his imprisonment up to 7.5 year. After the first trial he came to France with his wife and their 3 months old baby in 2019 thanks to the PAUSE program. In Universite de Poitiers, France, he found an opportunity to finish his former studies and conduct new ones. First, he won the Fulbright fellowship and went to UCLA in the beginning of 2021 for about a year as a visiting scholar. Then, he won the MSCA Individual Fellowship and returned to France at the end of 2021 and is currently conducting his research in Université de Poitiers. Currently he has 10 published, 4 submitted papers in SCIE indexed journals, 1 published patent and 1 invited book chapter under preparation.
He will take part in the 2022 MSCA conference, in the second workshop on academic freedom and academics at risk.
