2020-2021 academic year: Emergency assistance fund for students
In order to help and support its student community at the start of the 2020 academic year, ²ÝÁñÂÛ̳ is launching a social and digital assistance fund.
The Covid19 health crisis caused the postponing of internships, the end of student jobs contracts, and the closing of all facilities in the universities, which largely impacted the living conditions of our students. PSL component schools quickly reacted by deploying material, sanitary and psychological support.
In order to best anticipate the particular situation of this new academic year, the heads of the ²ÝÁñÂÛ̳ have decided to create an emergency assistance fund. This fund will enable students enrolled in initial trainings to access "social assistance" and "digital equipment assistance" at the beginning of the academic year.
Social support to pursue studies
Coordinated with the allowance offered by the CROUS, this one-time support will enable students in a difficult social situation to pursue their studies under good conditions.
Application packages should be sent before September 15, 2020 at midnight.
Persons who may be entitled to the one-time support:
- students in a situation of proven autonomy or family breakdown, who no longer benefits from family financial support. Their isolation and financially precarious situation may be proven by a separate tax notice or declaration, by a sworn statement about their situation, or by a notice from the student's registration institution, or by a letter from the student's school;
- students who lost the job that provided for their needs;
- a verified precarious financial situation, whether or not the student receives scholarship from Crous.
If the situation is justified, the same student may exceptionally benefit from several one-time allowances during the same academic year.
How to apply for "social assistance":
Students should apply by email to aides.sociales@psl.eu and include the following documents with their request:
- the completed and signed certificate of honor;
- an attestation of enrollment for the year 2020-2021 in one of the PSL schools;
- a letter justifying the request, and specifying the social and family situation and working conditions;
- a certificate of scholarship status (with the precise level of scholarship in the case of CROUS scholarships) if the student is a scholarship holder;
- a proof that the application made to the CROUS social action service was rejected (e-mail, certificate...);
- a copy of the latest tax notice (from parents if applicable);
- bank account details
Documents should be provided in pdf format and the file name should include the name of the student and the school. Only complete packages will be considered.
Conditions for the payment of the support:
The amount will be paid in one lump sum for each decision of the commission.
The maximum amount of one-off aid is €500 per commission decision. In the event that several one-time grants are awarded for the same academic year, the cumulative amount of grants may not exceed €1500.
Supporting digital equipment to study in the best conditions
Access to the Internet network and quality computer tools are significant concerns and expense items for students. The digital access grant will allow the purchase of a digital equipment (tablet or computer) or other equipment that makes easier the connection to the network (package, 4G key, etc.).
Application packages should be sent before September 15, 2020 at midnight.
Support for digital access may take the following forms:
- a financial aid of a fixed sum of €15 / month for 10 months to help students fund digital resources and optimize their connection to the network: 4G package extension, 4G key, a wifi amplifier or PLC kit in particular. The sum will be paid in one lump sum and will be available until the end of the academic year 2020-2021.
- a financial aid of a lump sum of €250 to help students purchase a tablet or a computer. The equipment will be purchased by the student, who will own it. Once the purchase is made, the student will be required to provide proof of purchase (any type of certificate is accepted).

General conditions to be eligible
Students who regularly enrolled in initial training in 2020-2021 in one of the component schools or partner institutions that have contributed to the shared student life services, scholarship holders and non-scholarship holders can apply for social or digital aid.
To be eligible for the aid, the student must be less than 35 years old on September 1st of the year for which the aid is requested. This age limit is not opposable to students with a disability recognized by the Commission des droits et de l'autonomie des personnes handicapées.
This aid is not meant to replace the aid already offered by PSL schools and by the CROUS.
The aid delivered by PSL is not only for scholarship students: it can be granted to those whose situation has evolved during the health crisis and who meet the social criteria of scolarship grants if the situation were updated by CROUS.
The specific aid can be combined with a scholarship based on social criteria, an annual allowance, aid for international mobility or merit-based aid.
The payment of the aid is conditional on the completion of the course of study and the fulfillment of all the obligations attached to the training program. In the event that the student abandons the training during the year, or does not respect certain obligations of this training program, the payment of the scholarship, if it is established in several installments, will be suspended.
Application packages should be sent before September 15, 2020 at midnight.
