2021 Shanghai ranking: PSL among the top #50 universities for the second year in a row
On August 15, 2021, Shanghai Jiao Tong University released its world university ranking (ARWU, Academic Ranking of World University). ²ÝÁñÂÛ̳, ranking #38, stabilizes its rank among the top 50 best research universities.
The Academic Ranking of World University (ARWU), aka Shanghai Ranking, is released every year since 2003 by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It covers 1,000 research-intensive universities, among the 20,000 higher education institutions listed in the world (EUA estimate), and is based on 6 weighted criteria: the number of alumni who were awarded Nobel Prize & Fields Medal, the number of Nobel Prize & Fields Medal-winning faculty members, the number of widely cited researchers, the number of articles published in Nature and Science, the number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index-Expanded and Social Science Citation Index, as well as the academic performance of professors (determined with the 5 previous indicators divided by the number of tenured faculty members).
²ÝÁñÂÛ̳, ranked #38, is included for the second year in a row among the competitive top 50 universities, next to renowned European and international institutions such as Kyoto University.
PSL is delighted with the good result from its communities and congratulates its peer institutions, members of , which are among the top 20 (Université Paris Saclay #13), top 50 (Sorbonne Université #35) and top 100 (Université de Paris #75). All of them, included in the 2020 rankings, demonstrate once again they deserve their ranking among the best research-intensive world universities and they contribute to improve the exposure of the French research and education.
