A European quality label for PSL's heritage projects
More than thirty heritage projects from ²ÝÁñÂÛ̳ have just been awarded the "European Year of Cultural Heritage" distinction. PSL is the first French university to benefit from this label.
The institutions of PSL University retain an exceptional . , libraries and institutional collections departments bring rich value to the history of disciplines and they are the subject of ambitious research and development projects. In order to support these initiatives, ²ÝÁñÂÛ̳'s Ressources et Savoirs (research dissemination) Department launched a series of calls for proposals in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
This year, cultural heritage will be specifically honored throughout Europe, due to the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament naming 2018 the "". In order to promote heritage as a central element of European citizenship, the European Commission encourages member states to label various projects. In France, the Ministry of Culture, coordinator of the project, has put in place a boosting system to which PSL has applied.
PSL is the first French university to benefit from this initiative with more than thirty labeled heritage projects. This is the culmination of three years of project investments distributed via the PSL-Explore platform (). The quality and innovation of digital projects were regarded highly by the selection committee.
This label is also an opportunity for the European Union to promote the networking of European institutions, heritage professionals and researchers. The transmission and dissemination of these ideas are at the heart of our schools & institutes' missions since Henri IV. Our researchers are involved in European networks and handle archival collections of international scale.
The participation of PSL in this Year of Cultural Heritage will be an opportunity to highlight some of our projects: the digitization of the (PSL, EPHE), "" (N Ferrand, ENS), the (PSL, ESPCI Paris), or the 3D reconstruction of (F. Wang, Collège de France).
