First session of the PSL Documentation Council

The Documentation Council is a new body, included in Université's PSL bylaws (article 43). It met for the first time on September 9 and 10, 2021. This first session was devoted to the presentation of the 2018 - 2021 activity report of the Documentation and Outreach Department.

The PSL Documentation Council, a new body provided for in the University's statutes (art. 43), met for the first time on September 9. This session was devoted to the presentation of the activity report.

The Documentation Council is an advisory body whose missions include:

  • Prepare proposals concerning the strategy of ²ÝÁñÂÛ̳ in matters of documentation and distribution of the culture and knowledge of the University.
  • Give an opinion on the documentation budget of the experimental school and of the co-financing of the Component Schools in its purview.
  • Issue a recommendation on the organization of documentation support service pooling.
  • Be consulted on draft agreements with external entities relating to documentation and scientific and technical information.

At the September 9 meeting, PSL's Documentation and Outreach Department presented its first activity report to the members of the board, which is made up of representatives of students, faculty, and staff, as well as three independant figures:

  • Stéphanie Groudiev - Campus Condorcet,
  • Julien Sempéré - Université Paris-Saclay,
  • Paul Thirion - Université de Liège.

This report reviews three years of activity of PSL's libraries and museums and presents its mediation and documentation platforms, i.e. the portal (PSL catalog, virtual exhibitions, tutorials) and the (24 collections).

This first meeting is a milestone in the sharing of PSL library and museum resources. This process was initiated, since PSL was founded, through numerous working groups.
 

The "Outreach" taskforce

An integral part of the documentation and knowledge dissemination service attached to the research department, the Outreach taskforce includes some twenty researchers and communicators from the entire PSL environment. It is led by an executive committee and relies on a network of 150 researchers and staff who are close to the field.  It play a key role in exchanging information, monitoring research in progress, sharing experience, exploring and developing collaborative projects in interaction with society. It is coordinated by Olivier Dauchot, researcher at ESPCI - PSL, director of the Gulliver laboratory.

The Documentation Council is chaired by the President of ²ÝÁñÂÛ̳. It includes 25 members appointed for a single term of office of five years, or two years and a half for students, renewable once. It meets annually.
