"Governance Analytics", an interdisciplinary initiative, launches a call for proposals to support intensive data research from PSL scholars on governance issues (aggregation of preference and collective choices, formation and performance of institutions, functioning of markets and organizations).

Vue d'un écran d'ordinateur

"Governance Analytics" is an interdisciplinary and strategic research initiative (IRIS) of PSL to support intensive data research on governance issues (aggregation of preference and collective choices, formation and performance of institutions, functioning of markets and organizations).

The core of the project consists of a team of (in Social Sciences and Computer Science) with skills in machine learning, econometric and network analysis, natural language processing, acquisition and management of data corpus. Supports for projects and researchers may be of various forms, but are envisaged mainly through the provision of knowledge and skills to the team.

Support for researchers is mainly planned through the provision of man-days of the team's collective expertise.

In addition to the support, and on an exploratory basis, applicants may request research assistance time (for example, a few man-days of M-level trainees) or limited budgets to support emerging projects (for example, to organize a seminar). Given IRIS' budgetary constraints, these limited resources will only be seed funds.

The "Governance Analytics" calls for proposals will be recurring (approximately every six months) and requests/supports can be granted with this in mind.

A contact with the project team before drafting the response of the call is strongly recommended in order to better target and calibrate (in man-days) the requests of supports.

Application package

This call for proposals is directed at both researchers and teams. The applicants should use the online form and the attached package (detailed features of the project and resume of the researcher) to define the research project and the expected support.

This call for proposals concerns both researchers and research teams. They have to describe the main features of the research project and the expected supports through an online form along with a more detailed document and the resume of the lead researcher(s) involved.

Information required:

  • the state of the art in the field;
  • the purpose of the research program and the expected developments;
  • the type of data employed, their originality, the needs to set up original data collection, as well as the difficulties encountered
  • the considered processes and their potential innovation
  • the resources already gathered in the project and, if applicable, the results achieved
  • the requested resources: expertise and workload

The Governance Analyics team will set up information meetings upon request in institutes/UMR. The members of institutes may also meet our researchers to discuss how to define their needs. Please contact Bruno Chaves at bruno.chavesferreira@dauphine.fr
