Women in Science: PSL doctoral students and postdoc fellows granted the 2022 L'Oréal-UNESCO Young Talents award

On October 11, six young female researchers from PSL received the L'Oréal-UNESCO "Young French Talent" award as part of the "For Women in Science" 2022 program, granted by the Fondation L'Oréal in partnership with the French Academy of Sciences and the French National Commission for UNESCO.

Noemi Renaudin, Chloé Pozas-Schacre, Lucie Ries, Meryem Baghdadi, Rachel Breton and Victoire Cachoux are doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows at , , , and . Their research work explores fields ranging from biology to computer science, including physics, within the laboratories and leading departments of ̳.

These six brilliant young researchers were selected from among more than 660 other candidates for the excellence of their application, the originality of their scientific project and their desire to pass on their passion to the young audiences. In addition to a research grant of €15,000 for doctoral students and €20,000 for post-doctoral fellows, they will each benefit from a training program to complement their scientific career and help them break the glass ceiling.

For 16 years, the L'Oréal-UNESCO "For Women in Science" Young Talent Award has encouraged the emergence of a new balance of power in the scientific world. Each year, ̳ invites young scientists to apply for this call for proposals and is particularly proud to claim so many of them among the winners.

 “We need to encourage young women in science to take the plunge!” , a joint interview with Fabienne Casoli (President of the Observatoire de Paris–PSL), Anne Christophe (Associate Director, Sciences, at ENS–PSL), Geneviève Almouzni (CNRS Research Director at the Institut Curie) and Annie Colin (Associate Director, Institut Pierre-Gilles de Gennes).
