PSL CULTURE LAB
Spearheaded by scientific teams in the humanities, social sciences and computational sciences, the CULTURE LAB (Computational Science of Culture) Major Programme brings together the expertise of PSL laboratories to push back the boundaries of knowledge.
Its aim? To develop predictive models that will lead to unprecedented discoveries and unite the study of historical and social processes, from the immediate present to the long historical past and the deep past of cultural evolution.
To achieve this, its work extends beyond the academic world through collaborations with cultural institutions, adding new value to their collections.
The main lines of research
- Digital applications: heritage conservation, modelling and simulation, data visualisation, textual analysis, visual culture, music.
- Development of predictive models: development of theoretical frameworks to structure and deepen data analysis in the social sciences and humanities.
- Historical temporalities: study of social and cultural processes from the immediate present to the long term and the origins of cultural evolution.
- Cultural partnerships: working with institutions to enhance and revitalise heritage collections.
