TERRAE
TheTERRAE Major Programme responds to the urgent need to design transition paths towards a more environmentally and socially resilient world. It mobilises a community of around 150 researchers from five PSL institutions, who are involved in interdisciplinary initiatives on environmental issues.
This transdisciplinary research is mainly organised around ‘transition hotspots’, projects targeting a clearly defined research object such as a territory, a sector, a practice or a specific challenge. The first hotspots focus on drought and agro-ecological transition in selected areas. Additional funding will be allocated to smaller-scale projects (mini-projects) to support TERRAE's overall ambition.
The main lines of research:
- Analysis of the systemic challenges of transitions: identifying and understanding the intersections between climate change, biodiversity and social issues.
- Transition hotspots: designing and implementing transdisciplinary projects on specific topics (sectors, territories, practices).
- Collaborative research and societal impact: engaging in dialogue with stakeholders to incorporate their questions and challenges into research projects.
- Training and raising awareness of transitions: developing links between research and teaching to train a new generation of change agents.
