MSCA conference speakers - Laurent Bonnefoy
Laurent Bonnefoy holds a PhD in political science, he currently is a researcher at the Center for International Studies - CNRS.
Laurent Bonnefoy's research focuses on political and religious mobilizations in the Arabian Peninsula, in particular Salafism in Yemen. He joined CERI in January 2013 and served as deputy principal investigator of the European Research Council Advanced Grant “When authoritarianism fails in the Arab world” (WAFAW-2013-2017).
He was a research associate at the French Center for Archeology and Social Sciences in Sana (CEFAS) between 2001 and 2009 and a research fellow in charge of the Palestine Office of the French Institute for the Near East (IFPO) from 2010 to 2012. He also consulted for the International Crisis Group (2009). He just came back from a three-year long CNRS research assignment in Oman, collaborating with Sultan Qaboos University.
Among other publications, he is the author of "Salafism in Yemen", "Transnationalism and Religious Identity" (Hurst, 2012) and "Yemen and the World. Beyond Insecurity" (Hurst, 2019).
